INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Each year the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science (“the College”) may award up to two (2) scholarships, known as the College of Engineering and Computer Science International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship (“the Scholarship”).
The Scholarship is available for international students who are citizens of the countries specified by the College (“the scholar/s”) and are applying for admission to an undergraduate program offered by the College. The Scholarship is highly competitive and based on academic merit.
VALUE
The award provides a 25% tuition fee scholarship for up to one year of an undergraduate program offered by the College.
Please note, that the Scholarship does not cover any application and deposit fee, the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) premium, fares to and from Australia, the payment of reading and study materials, living expenses, tuition fee, accommodation or any other costs associated with studying.
ELIGIBILITY
The Scholarship shall be available to an applicant who:
There will be a call for applications each year by the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science. Applicants must complete all components of the application and provide supporting documents wherever necessary.
SELECTION
A Selection Committee will be appointed and will make a recommendation for this Scholarship based on academic merit, and the program of study which the applicants have applied for. Consideration may also be given to any other factors which the Selection Committee considers to be appropriate and in line with the College’s strategic direction and priorities.
Recipients will be selected from applicants who are eligible to be considered in accordance with Clause 3 above. Students will be ranked according to their academic score and compared to other applicants who have applied for admission into a similar program at the College.
The Scholarship shall not be awarded if, in the opinion of the Selection committee, there is no candidate of sufficient merit. The College reserves the right to award no Scholarships in a given year, to vary the number of Scholarships or to award a Scholarship/s at other times in exceptional circumstances as determined by the Dean of the College (or nominee). The College reserves the right to revise the Scholarships from time to time.
CONCURRENT HOLDING OF SCHOLARSHIPS OR AWARDS
A scholar must obtain permission from the Dean of the College (or nominee) to hold any other type of Scholarship or award concurrently with the College of Engineering and Computer Science International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship. The Scholarship may not be tenable with any of the following:
DEFERMENT
The Scholarships may not be deferred, unless otherwise approved by the Selection Committee.
COMMENCEMENT
The Scholarship commencement date shall be outlined in the formal scholarship letter of offer.
LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE
The scholar is expected to achieve a satisfactory level of performance in the semester for which the Scholarship was offered.
DURATION
The Scholarship is tenable for two academic semesters to each scholar and is not renewable.
INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE
A scholar may not retain this scholarship while on exchange at another university.
TERMINATION AND WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
The University may terminate the Scholarship at any time and at the University’s sole discretion if the conduct of the scholar is deemed to be unsatisfactory.
If the scholar withdraws from the program (which the Scholarship was offered for) within 12 months, then the Scholarship will be terminated and the Dean of the College (or nominee) may determine that the value of the Scholarship should be refunded by the scholar to the College on a pro-rata basis as at the date of withdrawal.
REPAYMENT OF FUNDS
The Scholarship instalment for the semester in which the enrolment change or withdrawal occurred may be requested to be refunded. The determination will be made by ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science.
TAXATION
It is the scholar’s responsibility to determine the taxation implications of the Scholarship, if any, which apply to his/her individual circumstances.
PUBLICITY
It is anticipated that recipients may be requested to participate in publicity of the Scholarship from time to time. This may include publicity in the state of residence or of schooling.
On occasions, the scholar may be contacted by the College to participate in activities including, but not limited to, an interview, a photograph, and a formal Scholarship presentation ceremony. The College may also request written responses from the scholar which can include, but is not limited to, a summary of basic profile information, descriptions of University experiences, and a note of appreciation for the Donor who has funded their Scholarship.
The University may publicise the Scholarship by publishing the names of the scholars. Arrangements for such publicity will be made through the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science Marketing office.

- Is an International Students as defined under the terms of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000. Dependants of the staff of diplomatic or consular missions are also eligible.
- Is a citizen of one of the countries specified by the college on their website (these may vary from year to year)
- Has achieved at an excellent level in their final years of schooling prior to commencing at ANU, as demonstrated by excellent academic results in their qualifications.
- Has received an offer of admission into an undergraduate program offered by the College to commence in teaching period for which they are applying for this scholarship.
- Will commence an undergraduate program within the College for the first time.
