Scholarships are available for first-class students joining eligible Masters courses at the University of Sussex (excluding the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and IDS). The Scholarships are available only for the first year of postgraduate studies in the case of two year full-time Masters degrees and 1+3 courses.
We welcome applications from students who have achieved a first-class honours degree from a UK university and who are offered a full-time place on an eligible Masters course at Sussex. This includes previous students from the University of Sussex. We also welcome applicants from final year students currently studying at UK universities, who have not yet graduated.
There are 100 scholarships available each worth £3,000 to help towards tuition fees. Scholarships will be allocated on a rolling basis from February onwards until the final scholarships are awarded in August (see below for more details).

Application
In order to be considered you must apply for admission to an eligible full-time Masters course by 1 August via the University’s online postgraduate application system.
To be considered for the scholarship, you must complete and submit the Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship application form by 1 August. We would encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as awards will be allocated from February 2014.
Please note: if you are still studying for your degree, you do not need to wait for your final classification before applying. Applications will be considered on the strength of current performance and, if successful, the award of the scholarship can be made conditional upon you achieving a first-class undergraduate honours degree later in the summer.
Selection
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of previous or current academic performance and future potential. The selectors will pay careful attention to the information you provide in the Scholarship application form.
If you are not eligible you will not be entitled to an appeal against the decision but may ask for information as to why you were deemed ineligible.
Timetable
The deadline for application to an eligible Masters course is 1 August 2014. The deadline for the submission of the Scholarship application form is 1 August 2014.

If you accept a Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship you will be required to undertake occasional promotional or support duties for the University of Sussex at times agreed between yourself and the University (e.g. providing text for the prospectus or web page). Schools of study may have specific duties they wish you to assist with.

Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis starting in February. Successful applicants will be informed after each round, with eligible (but unsuccessful) applicants automatically re-considered in the following round alongside any new applications. 10. How will I receive the scholarship?
The scholarship is awarded in the form of a partial tuition fee waiver. £3,000 will be automatically deducted from your tuition fees when you register for your Masters course.

- You must have applied for your chosen full-time Masters course by 1 August

- Masters degrees in Social Work (if receiving a bursary)
- Social Work post qualifying Masters degrees
